1. With size 4 hook, chain 5. Switch to size 9 hook and chain 2 more for a total of 7 chains. Continuing with size 9 hook, single crochet in the third chain from the hook. Work all stitches through the back ridge of the chain, going under only one thread (see photo). |

2. Double crochet in the next chain, treble crochet in the next chain, double crochet in the next chain, and half double crochet in the final chain. |

3. Without cutting the thread, repeat Steps 1 & 2 for the second leaf, switching hooks for the first 5 chains as before. End off and use the thread tails to sew the leaves to the back of the finished rose. |
Directions for Small Rosebud Leaves
The smaller leaves are worked similarly, and you can refer to the photos above.
1. With size 4 hook, chain 4. Switch to size 9 hook and chain 2 more for a total of 6 chains. Continuing with size 9 hook, single crochet in the third chain from the hook. Work all stitches through the back ridge of the chain, going under only one thread.
2. Double crochet in each of the next 2 chains, and half double crochet in the final chain.
3. Without cutting the thread, repeat Steps 1 & 2 for the second leaf, switching hooks for the first 4 chains as before. End off and use the thread tails to sew the leaves to the back of the finished rosebud.
